that party sucked FYI. But that's just my own opinion. If i knew they'd be bangin at 144 bpm, Ida stayed home. But you get 1 mulligan, so hopefully next time it'll be better. Again, this is my opinion. What did everyone else think? I'm looking forward to Mr. Richards on the next one!

um....i thought the party was really good FYI ;) just MY opinion of course. . .

but i know for A FACT the bpm was no 144. maybe in the upper 120's (the sets should be online soon enough) but....thats how i like my tech house. proper bangin.

THEN to see lee burridge come through on a completely underground and unexpected afterhours set at the 19th / olive spot.....THIS was a night i will not soon forget!

now for eddie and richard grey. 1.21.06 should be another historical night for LA's tech house community.
      • Hey MsLadyBug, I was just really disappointed that night, that's all. I was so looking forward to that night and when I stood there for 2 !/2 hours and just bobbed my head and my feet were glued to the ground, well, I had to leave. Maybe it got better when the party moved, I didn't stick around for that long.

I actually was a bit off when I said 144 so I apologize, but it was more in the 136-138 range, and for me it's a bit much. By applying the Beats/Time x 60 formula, or even count beats for 10 seconds and then multiply by 6 and you can pretty much nail the bpm if you've got a stopwatch.

I sound like a complete asswipe on this thread, I swear I'm not! Anyways, I'm gonna shut my mouth now and just wait til he's in town again, and go enjoy it and not be a bitchface!

I am bummed I missed Burridge though, I heard it was sick sick sick sick sick sick sick sick! Damn it Jim!
        • yeah this diffter guy is not an asswipe, not tottally. well not as much as i can be. but shit sometimes a party rocks it for ya, other times no can doo doo.
and sometimes your so wasted you think you are at a party but you are throwing up in an alley!
i am just happy that there is people who wanna hear tech house in l.a. at all!
i am gonna go throw up in an alley! i will talk to you guys laters,
          brians
          • I had an absolutely amazing time at this party! The venue was perfect except for the much needed sound curtains. The only problem I had was with the sound set-up. Was difficult to find "the spot", too many pockets void of sound.
It's always great to hear Ben play a harder tech set, he rocks it on both the deep and tech house sounds. As for Terry Francis, I have to say he has always been my favorite dj and would be ranked higher on my scale if he weren't already on the top of it.
I knew when I drove up to the location that it was going to be just like the days of old when you're shuttled into some random business district, up an elevator and dropped off into a space filled (almost) with bangin' tech-house sounds. Then hours later shut down by the LAPD only to be shuttled back to our cars, call for an update on the info line with directions to a back-up location that would continue for many more hours. Not to mention a surprise guest dj.
Oliver and the Absurd crew are top notch in both selecting talent and delivery of the goods! Kudos! XOXO
            Lisa
